It is encouraging to note that more and more businesses are taking up projects which fall under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities aimed at benefit to the society at large. U & I takes up joint projects and also assists in developing and implementing CSR projects with its partner organizations. Some of our recent projects comprise:

Case Studies have been a proven method of imparting knowledge in leading business schools and executive development centers throughout the world. Unfortunately, most of the cases that are used in our business schools and by organizations themselves for their in-house training are written in the context of the developed economies. This deprives our students and management practioners from learning about local situations. The project aims at developing cases that can be taught at business schools and for in-house management development.

Participation in international seminars is an integral part of professional development of young faculties. Many faculties (particularly at the Lecturer and Assistant Professor or equivalent levels) are deprived of this opportunity due to information gaps, lack of networking and financial assistance. The project is designed to help global networking for new and young faculties and generate financial assistance for them to present their papers in international seminars and conferences. It also provides guidance to the young faculties to generate quality output, keeping global standards in perspective.

This project is geared to build awareness building of the industry as well as of the public in general, about environmental issues such as solid waste disposal, air and water pollution, climate change, bio-diversity and deforestation. The project is designed to take up joint assignments with partner institutions in this field to promote the cause for better environment.

While the training aspect of the entrepreneurship development has been evident for sometime now, there is an increasing need for ongoing coaching and managerial support to the entrepreneurs. The objective of this project is to cope with the demand by extending continued support to the entrepreneurs in various managerial roles.

The use of English at all levels needs to be promoted for all sections in the society to have access to learning and to use this as an international language. At present this opportunity has mainly remained to be an urban phenomenon, and that too is confined to more fortunate sections of the urban population. This project aims at undertaking advocacy and promotional programmes to spread the learning and use of English to all sections of the society.
